THE ROLE
As an Associate Consultant, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of client projects, managing client relationships, and contributing to strategic initiatives. The Associate Consultant will work closely with colleagues at all levels on research, writing, and creative problem-solving. You will be involved in the day-to-day support of client projects by drafting materials (i.e. report, memo, press releases, messaging, proposal, etc), monitoring issues or media, and by conducting and analyzing research on a variety of client-related issues or on business development efforts. The Associate Consultant is responsible for coordinating client meetings and events and working on client deliverables under the supervision of a more senior team member. The Associate Consultant is expected to demonstrate strong tactical abilities and writing fundamentals and have strong written and oral communication skills.
You’ll have the opportunity to work across disciplines, including corporate communication, crisis and issues, corporate social responsibility, media relations and stakeholder engagement, and digital/social media. And you could work with clients in food and consumer products, healthcare, tech, financial, energy, education and non-profit sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Produce drafts of written materials such as press releases, summaries, reports and other client materials
• Assist in responding to RFPs and preparing proposals by correcting edits, compiling copies
• Support other team members as necessary in order to complete client projects
• Conduct research using the internet, search engines and other means as appropriate
• Monitor media, government and political issues and update media tracking spreadsheets or databases
• Interface with vendor regarding products and services needed
• Meet project deadlines as assigned
• Provide day-to-day support to client projects by producing quality client deliverables (i.e. issue monitoring report, policy research and analysis memo, briefing materials, etc.) and conducting stakeholder outreach under minimal supervision of senior managers
• Support new business processes by conducting research as well as drafting credentials and proposals
• Prepares customized credential packages for prospective clients, highlighting APCO capabilities, relevant case studies, and high-level industry notes and observations (which requires a minimal review by project managers)
• Drafts complete initial proposals for client work
• Participates actively in internal and client meetings, offering knowledgeable observations and suggestions
• Contributes to and prepares the “basic” reports required in the specific functional capacity (e.g, perception audits, market studies, provincial reports, summary reports, etc.) with minimal guidance and review by managers
• Proactively identifies external meetings and trainings to attend to build sector knowledge and contacts
• Demonstrates awareness of utilization and expectations, coordinating with project leaders to manage them
