Overview of Position
As the Debate Program Lead, you will oversee product and people development for the after-school Debate programs at NPX Point Avenue, an educational group based in Singapore with operations spread throughout Southeast Asia. Responsibilities include formulating product development strategies, training, coaching, and mentoring Debate staff; driving Debate marketing strategies; and building partnerships. To be successful, you must be problem-solving, collaborative, and innovative. You will continually assess and identify gaps within the debate programs and develop and launch new products/training materials to improve our work while helping educate the market on our educational philosophy and approach. As the Product Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial success and profitability of the Debate Department, as reflected in the department's Profit & Loss (P&L) statement.
General Responsibilities include:
● Oversee the development and implementation of the Debate Curriculum
● Provide Debate program QA/ QC by training, advising, and assisting faculty and staff
● Further debate marketing strategies include creating content marketing, serving as a face for debate, and building partnerships with schools, businesses, and other institutions.
1. Product Development:
● Meet with Senior Management, Research and Development, and Marketing teams to discuss Debate product ideas and feasibility.
● Conduct market research and evaluate similar products
● Redesign existing products to enhance functionality or reduce costs
● Oversee product development; test prototype products for functionality, ease of use, and longevity; and resolve product issues.
2. Quality Assurance:
● Conduct and oversee training for Debate programs and support teacher development.
● Determine training requirements and priorities for Debate programs by meeting with managers, talking with employees, or administering surveys.
● Develop training programs that address specific needs and produce tangible results, including creating training calendars and materials.
● Assist human resources, research and development, and training, as well as the centers with interviewing, onboarding, and concurrent training for teachers specific to their targeted subject(s).
● Utilize their network to recruit and train Debate teachers.
● Schedule onboarding and continuing training and manage training attendance and task completion.
● Deliver in-person and online training sessions or train and supervise qualified personnel to do so.
● Conduct planned CTC teacher evaluations to ensure growth and development, and to address any teaching concerns.
● Monitor employees’ skills, performance, and productivity after training to ensure that the training meets business needs and improves performance.
3. Marketing & Partnership Building:
● Advise and assist with Debate content marketing strategies.
● Undertake Debate content marketing initiatives to support business targets.
● Collaborate with Marketing to produce high-quality content.
● Develop a partnership strategy focused on customer needs and financial gain.
● Identify appropriate prospects, arrange business meetings, and manage sales cycle to close new business.
● Support new sales development and high student retention.
4. Operations Support:
● Provides sales support by meeting with and helping close customer leads.
● Works by, with, and through Centers to implement Debate programs to a high-level standard.
● Teach up to 9 hours weekly or 40 hours/monthly for selected courses.
● Responsible for the Debate Department’s Profit & Loss (P&L) statement, continually working towards target accomplishment and exceeding targets. Where loss exists, find solutions to increase sales and revenue for the department and the company.
● Manage all Debate team members, their utilization, calendar management, diagnostic testing, etc., and work with the sales team to ensure the full utilization capacity of team members.
● Other tasks as assigned by the Academic Director.
