Engineering Manager

JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for overseeing and effectively leading the Engineering function. To ensure machinery and equipment is well maintained and reliable for the manufacture of products, to meet standard budget costs and plant efficiency. Ownership of repairs and maintenance spend, projects and installations, site facilities and associated plant equipment.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Adhere to company rules, policies and values.
• Provide the factory with highly reliable equipment by the implementation of Planned Preventative Maintenance programs and a Corrective Maintenance (breakdown) regime.
• Implement procedures to achieve machine / equipment uptime in line with Budget expectations and act before breakdown or process instability occurs.
• Drive improvement activities towards optimising plant performance and/or improving effective use of resources, which include labour, materials (engineering and production) plant utilisation and energy.
• Suggest and recommend equipment upgrades to existing assets and also replacement equipment including new process equipment in line with Technical Manager Project brief.
• Install or oversee of all production and non-production equipment that comes either from workshop or 3rd parties; ensuring it complies with original requirements, including safety legislation, and works at an agreed level of reliability without interruption.
• Provide technical support in addressing plant and process issues working with Process Engineer and Continuous Improvement Manager.
• Control engineering overhead costs; ensure all purchases and Engineering Store Stock issues within budgeted levels.
• Maintain and update all engineering records, inclusive of ensuring any purchases and stores requisitions are authorised as having correct information traceable to Asset number and cost code.
• Identify training needs, train, develop and mentor engineers to meet company standards and objectives.
• Ensure Cedo engineers and contractors operate to within all current regulations.
• Ensure the overall facility is in good condition, identify areas where repair / refurbishment is necessary, plan and execute work.
• Ownership of facilities management and Site Security ensuring the highest standards are maintained.
• Ensure that all-technical and legislative requirements are adhered to, and engage contractors and suppliers subject to engineering procedure.
