Fixed Term Policy Adviser, Interpreter/ Translator

The New Zealand Embassy in Ha Noi is seeking a Policy Adviser, Interpreter/Translator to help advance and support New Zealand’s interests while one of our team is on maternity leave. The position is for a fixed term of 8 months. We are seeking applicants with policy, research and translation experience, strong networking skills, and familiarity with government agencies and processes. This is a busy and stimulating job, and offers the scope to learn more about New Zealand’s foreign policy and to make a significant contribution to the work of the Embassy. This position is a broad and varied role which will encompass trade, education, media outreach, political and security issues. There may also be an opportunity for some domestic travel.
The role requires providing high quality policy advice, research and translation/interpretation support, building strong networks with Vietnamese and New Zealand government agencies and other embassies, and undertaking logistical support for official meetings and visits. You’ll need to be able to communicate clearly, manage tasks effectively and be flexible, adaptable and resourceful in how you go about your work. A positive attitude and a good sense of humour will go a long way in helping you fit quickly into our small, friendly team.
