Forestry Project Officer

The Forestry Project Officer is responsible for assisting in implementing and monitoring activities within sustainable forest plantation and management projects. This role includes executing forest planting, care, and protection plans; supporting sustainable forest management processes; coordinating with stakeholders; and ensuring compliance with technical standards and legal regulations. The position requires frequent travel to project sites.
Key Accountabilities
1. Support Forest Project Implementation
• Assist in implementing forest planting, care, and protection activities as planned.
• Understand and monitor the implementation of sustainable forest management processes.
• Collect field data and information for reporting and project progress evaluation.
2. Support Conservation and Technical Advisory
• Provide advice on selecting tree species suitable for soil, climate, and project objectives.
• Understand measures to protect forests from pests, fires, and other environmental impacts.
• Ensure the survival and quality of seedlings after planting.
• Understand map data analysis to support forest design and planning.
• Understand and have a solid grasp of certification regulations applicable to the forest plantation industry.
3. Coordination and Reporting
• Coordinate with stakeholders such as local authorities, partners, and communities.
• Provide periodic reports on the progress of field activities.
4. Legal Compliance
• Assist in ensuring field operations comply with legal and environmental regulations.
5. Other tasks
• Have a solid understanding of the woodchip and wood pellet market.
• Be knowledgeable about operational cost information for woodchip and wood pellet factories.
• Perform other tasks as required by management.
