Position Summary
The Biodiversity Conservation Director (BCD) is a critical leadership role responsible for driving conservation efforts in the ecologically rich Central Mountains. This position requires strategic planning, comprehensive program management, and stakeholder engagement to advance the organization's conservation mission.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement the organization's conservation strategy for the Central Mountains
• Regularly review and update the landscape strategic plan
• Align program objectives with the Regional Programme Conservation Strategy
• Evaluate and optimize landscape program performance
Program Management
• Direct the Central Mountains Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) Program
• Manage multiple conservation projects from inception to completion
• Coordinate approvals, monitoring, and stakeholder information sharing
• Represent the organization in steering committee meetings and forums
Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as the primary representative for the organization in the Central Mountains
• Cultivate partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, local authorities, and communities
• Facilitate transboundary landscape collaboration with Laos and the Regional Programme
• Attend workshops, meetings, and coordinate donor field visits
Team and Resource Management
• Provide direct leadership to Project Managers, Program Coordinators, and Technical Advisors
• Mentor staff through coaching, training, and performance management
• Participate in recruitment of staff and consultants
• Collaborate on fundraising strategies and resource mobilization
Financial Oversight
• Prepare, monitor, and report on program budgets
• Ensure financial integrity and accountability
• Manage multi-million USD budgets from diverse funding sources
Communication and Reporting
• Review and approve technical reports
• Contribute to communication campaigns
• Organize information-sharing sessions
• Promote landscape achievements and conservation efforts
